Abstract
Few leaders, including plantation, leaders understand the full significance of their leadership style has on performance and job satisfaction of employees. The success or failure in any company is attributed to the leadership facets and influenced by mediating factors. With the changes in the workplace it is increasingly important that leaders have discernible leadership qualities to remain effective. The proposed empirical study will look at the impact of transformational, transactional and democratic leadership styles on employee performance, through the intervening variables of empowerment and job satisfaction, of plantation executives in Tradewinds Plantation Berhad of Malaysia. The purpose of the study is to ascertain the right or suitable leadership style to motivate employees effectively towards achieving high performance in a Malaysian plantation.
