Introduction
It is popular to say that change is a feature of modern society, but it is age-old, resulting from out need to improve our lives and try out new things. We would not have the wheel if people had been content with what they could carry and drag. They wheel came because people could see a future beyond what was immediately obvious, and that is still true today. Change is deeply embedded in human nature and always will be. At the same time, there is comfort in the old and familiar, and pastures new may be alarming. Which of these pressures dominate in your organisation? Do you and your organisation have a constant creative eye on possibilities? Or is it difficult to suggest change because people are wary, or have not got the freedom to initiate?
